FAQ

Image size — common questions

What is the best image size for Instagram posts?+
For Instagram feed posts, use 1080 × 1080 pixels for square, 1080 × 1350 for portrait (4:5), and 1080 × 1920 for Reels and Stories. Portrait posts (4:5) take up more feed real estate and tend to outperform square in 2026.
What is the best image size for Facebook posts?+
Facebook feed images are best at 1200 × 630 pixels (1.91:1). For Facebook Reels and Stories, use 1080 × 1920 (9:16).
What is the recommended size for YouTube Shorts?+
YouTube Shorts should be 1080 × 1920 pixels (9:16 vertical). Shorts can be up to 3 minutes long as of the 2024 update.
What is the TikTok video size?+
TikTok videos and photos should be 1080 × 1920 pixels (9:16 vertical).
What size is a Pinterest Pin?+
Standard Pinterest Pins are 1000 × 1500 pixels (2:3 ratio). Video Pins and Idea Pins use 1080 × 1920 (9:16).
Does this tool upload my image?+
No. Images are read locally in your browser using the native Image API to detect dimensions. Nothing is sent to our servers.
Will a small image still work on social platforms?+
Platforms will scale small images up, but they lose sharpness and look pixelated. Aim for at least 80% of the recommended width for acceptable quality — this tool flags "Too small" when you dip below that threshold.
Why does the tool flag "Wrong ratio"?+
Social platforms crop or letterbox images that do not match the expected aspect ratio. A 1:1 image posted as a Reel will get padded with black bars. This tool flags any image whose ratio differs from the recommended by more than 5%.
