Why the number moves in jumps

YouTube rounds public subscriber counts: below 1,000 you see the exact figure, then it rounds to three significant figures. A channel at 1.23M can gain thousands of subscribers before the public number ticks over, which is why a live counter sits still and then jumps.

What counts as live

Nothing here is a stream from YouTube. The board re-reads the public statistics every thirty seconds and shows the difference since the previous read, so a change appears as soon as YouTube publishes it.

Exact numbers

Only the channel owner sees unrounded counts, in YouTube Studio. Any site promising exact public numbers for someone else's channel is estimating.

How to use the live counter

1. Type a channel name, an @handle or paste a channel link.
2. Pick the right channel from the results — several channels can share a name.
3. Add up to eight channels. Each card shows the current public count and how it moved since the last refresh.

Leave the tab open and the board keeps refreshing on its own. It is built for the moments people actually watch a sub count: a creator closing in on 1 million, two channels racing for the top spot, or a stream where a milestone is expected tonight.

Reading the rounding correctly

Because of the three-significant-figure rule, the size of each visible step depends on the channel. At 12,300 subscribers the count moves in steps of 100. At 1.23 million it moves in steps of 10,000, and at 123 million in steps of a million. Two channels that look tied can be tens of thousands apart; the one that ticks up first is the one that crossed the boundary first, not necessarily the bigger one.

Why counts sometimes drop

YouTube regularly removes spam and closed accounts from subscriber totals. When that happens a channel can lose a visible step overnight without anyone unsubscribing on purpose. Channels that bought subscribers tend to see the largest drops.
