Twitch emote resizer
Upload a PNG or animated GIF and download all three Twitch emote sizes — 112×112, 56×56 and 28×28 — with transparency and animation kept.
PNG, JPG, WebP or animated GIF. Square art at 112×112 or larger works best.

How to resize a Twitch emote
- Drop a PNG or GIF into the box above, or click to pick one. Start from the largest version you have.
- The three sizes Twitch asks for — 112, 56 and 28 pixels — are generated right away, with a preview of each.
- Download them one by one or together, then upload them in the Twitch Creator Dashboard under Viewer Rewards → Emotes.
Twitch emote size requirements
- Sizes: 112×112, 56×56 and 28×28 pixels, all square.
- File types: PNG for static emotes, GIF for animated ones.
- File size: up to 1 MB per file for static emotes and animated GIFs alike.
- Background: transparent. A white box around the artwork looks broken on Twitch's dark chat.
Twitch can generate the smaller sizes from one 112 px upload, but it scales them with a basic filter. At 28 pixels — the size people actually see in chat — that tends to blur outlines and lose detail, which is why uploading all three yourself looks better.
Designing an emote that reads at 28 pixels
An emote is drawn big and seen tiny. Before you commit to one, look at the 28 px preview above and ask whether you can still tell what it is.
- Use a thick, dark outline so the shape survives against both light and dark chat themes.
- Fill the square. Artwork that only uses the middle half ends up as a speck in chat.
- One idea per emote: a face and an expression, or a single object. Text almost never survives the shrink.
- Exaggerate. Bigger eyes, stronger colours and simpler shapes than you would use at full size.
Animated emotes
GIFs are resized frame by frame, so the timing and loop stay as you made them. Keep an eye on file size: long animations with many colours pass 1 MB quickly once you have three sizes. Fewer frames and a smaller colour palette are the fastest ways to get under the limit. Twitch also recommends that animated emotes loop cleanly and avoid fast flashing.
Private by design
The resizing runs in your browser. Your artwork is not uploaded to PostLink or anyone else, which also means the tool works offline once the page has loaded.
Questions
What size are Twitch emotes?
Twitch uses three sizes: 112×112, 56×56 and 28×28 pixels. You can upload a single 112×112 (or larger) image and let Twitch scale it, but uploading all three yourself keeps the small sizes sharp.
Does it work with animated GIF emotes?
Yes. Animated GIFs are resized frame by frame and exported as GIFs, so the animation and its timing are kept. Static images are exported as PNG.
Will the resizer stretch or crop my emote?
No. It keeps the original aspect ratio and fits the artwork inside a square canvas, filling the leftover space with transparency.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
