“Is it taken?” opens that profile on TikTok. If TikTok says it couldn’t find this account, the name is probably free — Edit profile → Username in the app gives the final answer as you type it.
TikTok username rules
TikTok refuses a username that breaks its format before checking whether it’s free. From TikTok’s help center:
- Between 2 and 24 characters.
- Only letters, numbers, underscores (_) and periods (.).
- It can’t end with a period.
- You can change it once every 30 days.
