These are market estimates for a single sponsored post, not Instagram payouts. Usage rights, exclusivity and whitelisting are usually priced on top, often 20–50% more.
How much does Instagram pay creators?
Less than most people expect, directly. There is no general revenue share on posts or Reels; Meta’s creator payouts — subscriptions, gifts on Reels and bonuses offered by invitation — depend on eligibility and country. The money most creators earn on Instagram comes from brands paying for sponsored posts, which is what this calculator prices.
How the estimate is built
- Followers set the base. Each band of followers is priced per thousand — $10–$30 for the first 10k, $7–$15 from 10k to 100k, $5–$10 up to a million, $4–$8 beyond — and the bands are added up like tax brackets, so crossing 100k never makes a post cheaper.
- Engagement moves it. Engagement is (likes + comments) ÷ followers, or the rate you type in. It is compared with what is typical for your account size — the same benchmarks as the engagement rate calculator — and multiplies the base by 0.6 when below typical, up to 1.3 when well above.
- Niche adjusts for advertiser demand. Finance, business and software brands pay more per reached person than entertainment and meme pages; the multipliers run from 0.75 to 1.4.
- Format scales the result. A Reel is priced at 1.5× a feed post, a Story at 0.35×.
Where the numbers come from
The follower bands are calibrated to the per-post ranges that influencer pricing surveys publish for 2026 — roughly $10–$300 for nano accounts, $300–$1,500 for micro, $1,500–$10,000 for macro and $10,000 and up past a million followers (rate guides from Neal Schaffer, Scrumball and Influee). Those surveys disagree with each other by a wide margin, which is why the result is a range and not a single figure. The engagement, niche and format multipliers are our own estimates of how those factors move the price; they are shown in the table so you can see exactly what produced the number.
Using the range in a pitch
Quote the top of the range for a single post and offer the middle for a package of three or more. Price usage rights separately: a brand that wants to run your post as an ad is buying more than a post, and 20–50% on top is the usual ask.
Questions
How much does Instagram pay?
Instagram does not pay a share of ad revenue for ordinary posts and Reels the way YouTube does. Most creator income on Instagram comes from brands paying for sponsored content; Meta’s own payouts — subscriptions, gifts and invite-only bonuses — depend on eligibility and country and are usually the smaller part.
How much can I charge for a sponsored Instagram post?
Published rate surveys put nano accounts (1k–10k followers) at roughly $10–$300 a post, micro (10k–100k) at $300–$1,500, macro (100k–1M) at $1,500–$10,000 and mega accounts above that. This calculator prices inside those bands, then adjusts for your engagement and niche.
How much does Instagram pay for 1,000 followers?
Nothing directly — followers are not paid per head. As a sponsored-post rate, the first 10,000 followers are priced here at about $10–$30 per thousand, with the rate per thousand falling as the account grows.
Why does engagement change the price so much?
A brand pays for attention, and engagement is the visible evidence of it. An account well above the typical engagement for its size reaches more of its followers, so it is priced up; a large account that few people interact with is priced down.
Do Reels pay more than posts?
Usually. Reels reach beyond your followers and take more work to produce, so creators tend to quote them higher than a feed post. Stories are cheaper because they disappear after 24 hours.
