Instagram caption generator
Describe the post, pick a tone and a length, and get five captions that open with a hook — with emojis and hashtags only if you want them, all under Instagram’s 2,200-character limit.
The first line does the work
Instagram shows one or two lines of a caption under the post and hides the rest behind “more”. Whatever sits there decides whether anyone reads on, so every caption here opens with a hook — a claim, a question or a detail — rather than “Here’s my new…”. Read the first line of each option on its own before you pick.
Length, emojis and hashtags
The hard limit is 2,200 characters, and the counter under each caption shows how close it is. Short captions suit photos that speak for themselves; long ones suit carousels and stories people save. Emojis work as punctuation — one or two, not a row of them. Hashtags go on the last line, three to five that describe the post. After you edit a caption, paste it into the character counter to recheck the limit.
Make it sound like you
Treat the result as a draft. Swap in a word you would actually say, cut what you would not, and add the detail only you know — where the photo was taken, what went wrong first. That edit is what stops a caption from reading like everyone else’s.
Questions
How long can an Instagram caption be?
2,200 characters, including emoji, spaces and hashtags. Only the first line or two show under the post before “more”, so the opening has to carry it. Each generated caption shows its character count against the limit.
How many hashtags should a caption have?
Instagram allows up to 30, but its own creator guidance recommends a few relevant ones. With “Add hashtags” ticked, each caption ends with 3–5 hashtags on its own line.
What makes a good Instagram caption?
A first line that makes someone tap “more”, one idea in the middle, and a reason to reply at the end — a question or an opinion people can disagree with. Captions that just describe the photo add nothing to it.
Can I choose the tone?
Yes — casual, funny, inspirational or professional, and short, medium or long. Add anything else in the optional field: your audience, a product name, a call to action.
Is it free?
Two runs free, then it continues on a paid plan — each generation costs model time. Tools that cost us nothing stay unlimited.
